Timed intercourse is one of the simplest treatment options for infertility. It is often recommended when no clear cause of infertility has been found after testing, or when ovulation is irregular or absent. The aim is to identify the woman’s most fertile period and guide intercourse at the right time to improve the chances of conception.

These may include urinary fertility monitoring with ovulation test kits, calendar tracking, observation of changes in cervical mucus, and ultrasound monitoring of follicular development during the menstrual cycle.
In some cases, timed intercourse may be combined with fertility medication to help stimulate the ovaries and support egg development. A trigger injection of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, known as hCG, may also be given to help release the egg at the right time and improve the chances of fertilisation.
